In honor of Margot's Lacoste dresses, Ari and Uzi's matching track suits, Richie's headband, and the countless other indelible costume choices in Wes Anderson's opus we present the Tenenbaums Award for the best individual costume choice of 2011.
And the winner is...
The Scorpion Jacket from Drive.
No contest, really.
Some viewers griped about Ryan Gosling's lack of dialogue in Drive, but when his character is wearing a shiny silver jacket with an upturned collar and and embroidered yellow scorpion on the back, I think maybe he was correct to let the clothes do the talking for him. With due respect to Charlize Theron's Hello Kitty shirt, is there another item of clothing from 2011 more instantly iconic than this bold choice?
(Incidentally I spotted them online starting around $150, though maybe you can find a better bargain)
