2011 Superlatives: Most Incoherent
In loving tribute of William Goldman's adaptation of Stephen King's story of midlife crisis, magic mentally handicapped children, and alien space monsters that fly out your butt it's the Dreamcatcher Award for the most utterly incomprehensible film of 2011
and the award goes to...
Sucker Punch
So inside a reality where Emily "Babydoll" Browning is being wrongly imprisoned in an insane asylum, sexually abused and probably lobotomized there is another reality where she is trapped in a servitude at a brothel where she and her fellow inmates (prostitutes?) attempt an escape that depends on Babydoll's amazingly sexy dancing, dancing so sexy it opens up a third level of reality where the girls are steampunk/anime asskickers fighting zombie Germans, Orcs and fifty foot automatons.
Oh, wait, do I have that right? I take it all back. Makes perfect sense.
