Hobbit Inflation

According to Audible the running time of the unabridged audiobook of Tolkein's The Hobbit is 11 hours and 6 minutes.

The last time Peter Jackson made a Tolkien trilogy the combined running time of the extended editions was 11 hours 22 minutes.

Meaning...

Now that The Hobbit has been officially split into three films there is the distinct possibility that Peter Jackson has made a movie version of a book where it takes longer to watch the movie than it does to simply sit and read the book.

Hardly surprising from the man who managed to squeeze a 104 minute giant ape movie into a 201 minute remake, but still, wow.

  1. I'm so skeptical about this. The third episode sounds like a cash grab to me, to be honest. I just hope at the end of the sixth episode, the fatigue does not hit as badly as it did with Star Wars' last one.
